A company’s culture can make or break a business. No matter how hard one individual tries, it takes to a team to build something great. Employees should look forward to going to work and be constantly trying to think of ways to improve their workplace. Here are some ways to foster a company culture that rivals those of Google and Facebook.

Knowing the company values and mission

Everyone at the company needs to have a common goal and core values. If everyone has an agreement on what this is, it’s much easier to work towards those goals and encourage those values. Try not to confuse values with ways you want employees to conduct themselves.

Hiring the right people

This is the fastest way to foster a company culture. It’s also the easiest way to ruin one. In order to do this, it is helpful to establish what you want as a culture at your business when first hiring people. Explain what is expected from day one and encourage the company culture daily.

Recognize when something needs to change

It is easy to write down a list of things you want to see in your company culture but also recognize what you don’t want to see. This way, these behaviors will be easier to spot and correct when they do happen. Make your company culture something that is easy for people to emulate, trying best not to be your own worst enemy. If employees see that the company’s management isn’t representative of the values you want in the culture, there will be no reason for them to work to reflect them.
