SCORE

Any business owners knows just how important it is to build a solid marketing strategy in order to be successful. After all, it's perhaps the best way to bring in loads of new customers in the long run. Studies, in fact, show that approximately 46% of most brands don't have any kind of actual defined marketing strategy, yet 16% of those who do haven't actually done much to put it into effect. As a result, many businesses aren't doing what they should be in order to get the customers and exposure that they should already have.

Without any kind of marketing strategy, you can run the risk of not having any kind of useful direction. Without any results at your disposal, you will only end up losing valuable customers to your competitors.

Here are four useful ways to help with building up a successful marketing strategy.

Identify the target market

First and foremost, take the time to identify who your target customer and/or target audience should be. By doing this, you will be ensuring that all of your efforts are as focused as possible, thereby making sure that you're getting a great return on your investment. Perhaps the most common method to take is to create a buyer persona, which will help to ensure that you're marketing to those who are truly interested in the products and services that you're offering. As part of this specific strategy, be sure to include factors such as location, age, gender, interests, and more.

Research the competition

Think about conducting your own research on some of your competition. For instance, take the time to look closely at exactly what they're doing to attract their own customers and think about how you yourself can do things better than them. Additionally, you could also scope out their customers and take a look at exactly what they're saying, specifically via social media platforms. Pay attention to what they may be purchasing, as well as how they may have found out about them and if they had experiences that were more positive or negative.

Utilize social media

Use social media to promote your brand as much as possible. Platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are extremely useful for this sort of thing, especially when you take the step of utilizing relevant hashtags that help to grab the attention of those who are may be seeking the products and services that you're offering. By taking advantage of what social media has to offer, you're sure to eventually connect with more customers, and potentially even getting them to bring even more customers in thanks to word of mouth.

Network, network, network

Connect with other professionals who are part of the same field as you in order to gain more professional connections. For example, share any and all relevant content from these professionals, post comments on anything that you find from them on social media, etc. By taking these steps, you're sure to grab their attention and gain more of a following, which can then lead to more assistance with your marketing strategy from outside sources.
