3 Austin Businesses to Receive Cash Awards

Start Small. Think Big!

AUSTIN, Texas {January 30, 2017} – SCOREAustin, a non-profit resource partner of the Small Business Administration, is proud to announce its first ever Celia Bell Entrepreneur Awards, which annually will recognize three Austin-area businesses for their commitment to growth and entrepreneurism.

The awards are hosted in collaboration with SCOREAustin partners, including LocalU, SBDC, Admen, FranNet and Frost Bank, Regus and 1st Credit Commercial. SCOREAustin will award a Small Business $5,000, a Start-Up Business $1,500 and a Not-for-Profit $1,500.

The awards are presented in honor of Ceila Bell, a SCOREAustin mentor and businesswoman who has helped start and grow many small businesses across greater Austin. SCOREAustin certified mentors are experienced entrepreneurs, corporate managers and executives with a diverse set of industries and specialties who volunteer their experience and knowledge to help small business owners and entrepreneurs achieve success.

“The Celia Bell Entrepreneur Award winning businesses will embody the spirit of entrepreneurialism and perseverance that is the backbone of the US economy,” says SCOREAustin president Bob Paino. “SCOREAustin is proud to recognize these hard-working and creative business owners, and to help hundreds of small businesses throughout the year start and grow through education and mentoring.”

“Austin has always been a special place for small businesses,” says Mike Blumenthal of LocalU, which provides a national series of SEO and internet marketing seminars. “We are incredibly excited to honor the spirit of entrepreneurialism that is embodied by SCOREAustin mentors like Celia Bell, who has been an inspiration to us and many others in the greater Austin area.”

The awards are made possible through a generous grant from LocalU, which together with Google, gave the SCOREAustin chapter an ongoing grant/scholarship to help grow small businesses in Austin.

The award winners will be announced at a luncheon in Austin on Sept. 14 (location to be announced).
