Turn traffic into sales

While a good portion of online marketing is driving traffic to a website, social media account or online store, the end goal is to turn that traffic into a sale. Here are some tips to increase traffic and make that sale.

To turn traffic into a sale you have to have traffic in the first place. If your website is lacking in these numbers then consider the following:

Run targeted online ad campaigns

This is a simple, yet effective way to easily drive up traffic numbers. The best part is that it is easy to target the specific audience you want visiting your site based on location, age, gender, ect.

Search engine optimization

Websites don’t just happen to appear on the first search page of Google. It takes a lot of work to get them there. Do a little research about keywords that people in your industry are using, or hire an online marketing company.

Social media

This is a free, I repeat free, way to drive traffic to your website. There are many insider tricks and tips when setting up accounts and running the accounts. This is easy to start and easy to maintain. It just takes a little time.

Once you have the traffic visiting your website or store it is important to make sure they stay long enough for something to catch their eye. Make sure that your website is:

Engaging

If your website is boring or hard to navigate, people will quickly exit the site. The best approach to a website is simple and clean with no clutter. What’s worse than a cluttered site is a slow loading site.

New content

If a site looks like it is never updated people will quickly leave as well. Have an active blog, showcase social media feeds or have online newsletters. Have sections of the site that show the company is active online.

This last part is the hard part. Getting people to sign up, buy something or visit again requires an extra step.

Sign-up forms

These are a great way to know who is visiting the site. It can be a pop up or it’s own web page. You also know that people who choose to give you their information are interested in your product or service. These are leads.

Email campaigns

This keeps your company in the forefront of the customers mind. Maybe they visited your site and saw something they liked, they were just busy. Send them a reminder email or give them a heads up about a special deal. By turning their inbox into a direct line of communication you drastically increase your chance of making a sale.
