Joshua’s Stage raises awareness and builds trust among the special needs community in Austin. The organization completed a year of successful business in March 2017 and their enrollment numbers continue to grow as parents of kids who have reaped the program’s benefits spread the word.
Levy attended a variety of SCORE workshops on marketing, branding, accounting, and human resources management. The workshops, he says, “taught and inspired me to apply knowledge to further the growth of Joshua’s Stage.” He also used them for networking.
Levy also met several times with his SCORE mentor, Bob Shaver. Levy says “My initial meeting with Bob was a huge affirmation for me in that he reviewed the business plan for Joshua’s Stage prior to our meeting, and he provided great insight. Given his extensive business career I was thrilled to hear his thoughts.”
Shaver provided feedback and helped Levy enhanced the business plan and gave him guidance on the next steps for the business. The two stay in touch by email and Shaver has connected him with colleagues in the nonprofit sector. Shaver has also helped spread the word about Joshua’s Stage to contacts in his network, helping to boost enrollment for the program.
