The first sixteen years of my career were spent in the Bell System. I managed a Coin Operation and then a Supply Operation in NW Ohio for eight years. I transferred to Cleveland and  trained to be a programmer analyst. I spent eight years in the Data Center progressing from application programmer to systems analyst, to technical support as a Data Base Administrator doing logical and physical database design in a Codasyl environment. During my last five years at the phone company, I also taught  as an adjunct faculty member teaching Assembler, Cobol,  RPG,  Database Management,  and Telecommunications at Cuyahoga Community College.

After Ma Bell,  worked for my friend and mentor,  Joe Links at Software Alternative,  Inc. (SAI) as the IBM Business Partner Program evolved.    I spent five years in a sales  start-up capacity opening one new geography,  verticles in MRP,  CAD/CAM and CIM Integration.  After  SAI I worked for Computer Task Group (CTG) for two years.    During those years,  I ran a CTG branch in Chicago and developed the IBM Business Partner Program in the middle third of the United States.

I started LDA Products in the early nineties with Rich Croll and Steve Sweetnich.     Rich and I bought Sweetnich out in a few years and renamed to Foresight Technolgy Group.   We were based in Brecksville, Ohio south of Cleveland.   We were an IBM Business Partner and sold hardware,  software,  and operating system and network integration services.    We covered east to Pittsburgh and Erie,   south to Columbus and Cincinatti,  and west to Toledo,  Fort Wayne,  and Grand Rapids.   We were about $70 million in revenue 100 employees and a 30% ESOP when we sold it.  We were recognized twice by the Weatherhead 100 Award from Case Western Reserve University as one of the fastest growing companies in  Ohio. 

I had the honor and opportunity to seved on the Board of Directors at Carver Machine Works for 9 years.  Carver is a small high tech machine shop in Washington NC.    They have the distinction of being 100% owned by the employees in an Sub Chapter S ESOP structure.   Additonally,  I had the honor of serving on the Board of Lewis Tree Service.     Lewis is a 3,500 employee vegetation managment company maintaining right of ways for utility companies in the eastern United States.   Lewis also has the distinction of being 100% employee owned.    They were recognized at the nies were employee owned.  I had the opportunity to chair the Lewis Tree Governance Committee and the Compensation Committee.

After my Board tenure,  I started a company called Giant Street Ventures.   Susan,  Benjamin Pratt, and I started a couple of Aaron's Rents stores in Elkin, NC  and Boone, NC for about 5 years.    Additionally,   I did a real estate development in Lake Lure called Tatanka.  

Today:   I manage my investment portfolio and real estate investments;  I travel;   I do some popcorn philanthropy;  and I volunteer with SCORE.       

I've got a broad and varied background,  I usually am a pretty good sounding board.
